Dyadic Therapy

Dyadic therapy is a type of therapy that involves both a young child and his or her primary caregiver in each session. The focus is typically on strengthening the parent-child relationship and improving a child’s behavior and functioning at home. Dr. Nichols-Jones has extensive training in providing dyadic therapies, including Child-Parent Psychotherapy, to families who have children with a history of trauma or changing caregivers (including children who have been adopted or who are in foster care). Dyadic therapy is also useful for minimizing disruptive behaviors and increasing prosocial, adaptive behaviors in young children.
